This problem is related to VMWare Workstation. I recommand to you to contact VMWare Technical Support. I am using VMWare worsktation to run a Windows Server 2008 R2 as a test DC. When I right-click my computer name under Powered On and then select my network adapter to select "NAT:Used to share the host's IP address", I can access internet. You can also try to use "Bridged: Connected directly to physical network" (I think that it is the one you need) or use "Custom: Specific virtual network" option. For more information, proceed like I told you and contact VMWare Technical Support. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. You'll need to look at the technical documentation for VMWare. However, with all virtualization apps, there is generally an option to assign a NAT type of network interface to the guest OS. This would provide the guest OS with NAT services to pass packets out through the physical host. This would not require the installation of a loopback adapter on the host. If you proceed with the loopback adapter design, you would need to have RRAS or another type of NAT service running on the host. I would go with the NAT on VMWare. Again, check with the VMWare support docs or their website. Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

thanks for your reply. i was wondering if there is an option to make the server work as dc and at the same time using loopback adapter connect to my access point to connect to the internet. If so pls let me know Let met clarify technology before I begin. Loopback Adapter = A virtual adapter on your Ethernet Network Interface Card used for troubleshooting the hardware on the NIC itself. Ethernet Device = Used to connect a node or host by connecting copper communication mediums as Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6 by using a straight-through or cross-over cabling structures as set by ANSI/TIA/EIA in standards 856A and 856B that govern residential and commercial cabling standards. Virtualization HOST or HOST = A physical system Virtualization GUEST or GUEST = A virtualized system that runs on a HOST Now that that is clarified.... Run the command on your HOST - ncpa.cpl to set your ethernet IP information correct. Run NCPA.CPL Edit your ethernet settings by double-clicking the adapter and going to properties. Click on IPv4 and set your address to static on the 10.10.*.* network without a gateway. Now that your virtualization HOST is set... you need to configure your network settings for your virtualization GUESTS. The reason for configuring your ethernet without a gateway is so your ethernet device doesn't take precidence over the wifi and you can accurately verify connectivity. What you need to do is configure your bindings in the Virtual Network editor with all of your virtual machines OFF. Once your virtual machines are all off... you can tweak your bindings a little easier and the settings will take place immediately. Now at the home view of VMWare Workstation, click on "Edit > Virtual Network Editor." In the middle is your "VMnet Information" which configures your "Bridging" device. Change it from "Automatic" and set it to your "Ethernet" device. Click OK to exit. Configure your Virtual Machine Settings - Network Adapter > change to Bridged Configure your virtual machine IP Address once you turn it back on so that its set to static like a normal server would be. Then set up ADDS, DNS, and DHCP Settings. Make sure DNS and DHCP are disabled on your router/AP so they don't conflict. Configure your wireless key and connect with your HOST's wireless adapter... you should be able to connect to the internet with your virtual machine server acting as the DNS and DHCP server. I believe that's what you're trying to do. thanks for your reply. i managed to connect to the internet by adding a 2nd nic in the VMware workstation. the 1st nic card is assigned to the dc which works on static ip and 2nd nic card is working on nat with the local host laptop. thanks again for the info
