Access denied on Task folder when setting attributes
Hello Guys, I am currently hit with an issues in my SharePoint farm, which has to due with Schedule search activities not running and has totally stop incremental search activities in the farm. However, a workaround is stated here on the Microsoft KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926959. Now, the problem I am having is granting the WSS_WPG local group the read and write permission on the folder, cause whenever I want to that has a domain administrator, enterprise or even the SharePoint Farm administrator(A domain admin account), I recieve an access denied error. Please, what workaround can I make to avoid this error. Thank you

Thanks for reply, however the issue I am facing right now is no longer a SharePoint issue (which is changing permission and attributes on a folder in Windows Server 2008 sp2). Still waiting for a head up. Regards

Hello, According to you description, I understand you got an “Access denied” error when you set the attribute on %windir%\tasks folder. To isolate the UAC issue, please may try use “Run as administrator” to start command line. Then try the command “attrib –s %windir%\tasks” again. If the problem continues, please collect more information for research. 1. Logon as the domain admin account and run the following command to display the ACLs of the "%windir%\tasks" folder and send the "acls.txt" and "tasks.txt" file to me: - Click Start -> Run, type "cmd" in the text box, and click OK. - Type the following command in the Command window: Cacls "%windir%\tasks" > c:\tasks.txt 2. Logon as the domain admin account and run the following command to collect user account information: whoami /all > c:\whoami.txt Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the file and then give us the download address.
