Access Denied: Task Scheduler w2k8r2 access to xp machines
In a domain environment I tried to call tasksched.msc of Windows Server 2008 R2 to access XP SP3 machines. But we always got: "Access is denied". Workaround: On the XP client set the following settings: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\RPC RestrictRemoteClients with the value 0 (typ: DWord) -or- (Group Policy object) Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\System\Remote Procedure Call\Restrictions for Unauthenticated RPC Clients 0 – None 1 – XP SP2 and SRSP1 client SKUs Default 2 – High http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781010(WS.10).aspx Personal I think this is a bug because the secure value of 1 (default) is not working.

Hi, Thanks for your sharing. Others who encounter the same issue will find your workaround and fix the issue after reading this thread. Instead of a bug, it should be a security reason to restrict remote clients.
