Access 2003 Could not lock file on 64-bit Windows Server 2008
Hi, I have a problem on 64-bit Windows Server 2008. The Access 2003 database could not be accessed by more than 1 user at the same time. The error message is "Could not lock file" whensecond user tries to log in.The solution I found working only on 32-bit Windows Server 2008 is as following link:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305995On 64-bit Windows Server 2008, I modified the value of MaxLocksPerFile in the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Jet 4.0 However, the problem still persists.I am usre that thedatabase file have sufficient security permissionsand write permissions, and the default record locking is No locks I would deeply appreciate ifsomeone could help me with this problem.ThanksLizzy Fan

Hi, This issue may be caused by incorrect permission on the database folder. Users should have write permission to the folder so that they could write some temp file. Please give Full Control permission to users to test. If the issue persists, I suggest that you initial a new post in the Office Discussion Groups to get further support there. They are the best resource for Office related problems. For your convenience, I have list the link as followed. Hi Thanks for you guys' help. The problem is solved by allowing the Full Control permission to users on C driver since the database is saved under C driver, not under any folder. An interesting thing is on 32 bit Window Server 2008, the database can be accessed by multiple users without this setting. Thank you very much
