I used the IE 7 in the 2008 server, and I found that the IE 7 will stop working after I open a website which containing Java.(I installed Java environment) This doesn't happen in the vista operation system. And the Firefox still works fine.

It deals with websites are restricted area except you add the site to the Allowed list. You can reduce your IE Security settings but customizing it on your own to allow JAVA and other options from Internet Options>>Security>>Internet>>Custom Level. Good luck
