About sql server 2008 r2 license
Hello, I´m sure that you need to call to a Microsoft Partner to ask about this. You can find a lot of information here: http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/licensing-options/spla-program.aspx Regards, Cristian Cristian Neira

you will need the windows cals additionally. if those 100 users share the same pc's, device cals might be an option for you. take a look here http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/about-licensing/client-access-license.aspx edit: and unfortunately you dont get away with one cal for the sql server service account. when it comes to licensing, the number of user/devices using the service (sql/iis and so on) count, even if its technically one user (for example accessing sql through iis, you still have to have the cals for the users accessing sql through iis or a proc license)

Dear all, I would like to install a sql server 2008 r2 on a windows server 2008 r2 as the database of my application which is a Visual Basic program located at PC. There will be around 100 users to install my application but around 50 users will concurrent use the application. I plan to buy a per processor license of sql server 2008 r2 enterprise and a server license for windows server 2008 r2 standard edition. Do i still need to buy CAL for the windows server? if so, buy one CAL (assumed to be used by the sql server) or buy 100 CALs (each user needs one) or 50 CALs (only count concurrent users)? Thank you!
