About DFS
my question is about the difference. i have 3 clients( pc1,pc2,pc3) and a server(srv1). pc1 has a shared resource named "rose", pc2 has a resource named 'lilly", pc3 has a resource named 'safron' srv1 has a shared resource named "alldocs" which is empty. now in the alldocs folder i will create the shortcuts of the shared resources present in pc1,2,3. irrespective of the targets ,replication and physical location transparency (to users) why should i use a standalone dfs, when i have the feature of using shortcuts.

Hello, if all advantages as you state are not a point in your network, you can use shortcuts direct from pc1-3 to the shared folders, even the way over the server is not needed. DFS provides options you don't have with shared folders on different locations, when just working with shortcuts.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
