AIS Group Policy

Assigning computers to groups via Group Policy is not possible in AIS 2.0.  The feedback we heard from customers was that this was not a widely used AIS 1.5 feature and that UX-based grouping model was preferred.

When agents enroll with the AIS 2.0 service, they are placed in the unassigned computers folder. They can then be moved from there to specific folders that are meaningful to the administrator.

We would be happy to hear feedback from customers on this. If you have a computer grouping scenario that isn't being handled well, please let us know.

With the previous version, I was able to assign computers to groups through Group Policy settings. This does not appear to be working with the current version and I haven't found any reference to it in any of the documentation. Can you tell me if this is still a possibility with 2.0 and if so, where is the process documented for AIS 2.0?

Thank you.

I'm having the same issue!

Why would you remove that feature?  If they don't set the ClientGroup fine do what you want, but if we do set a ClientGroup please don't ignore it.

In fact it would be better if it worked like WSUS where I could assign a computer to multiple groups to assist in segmenting my data for reporting.

Also why would you still have the option in the ADM file for group policy?
