Hi Yasser,

what is the considerations and the sequences for upgrade

I would suggest you upgrade DC as below:

  1. Join target OS server into domain then promote it as replica DC.
  2. Transfer FSMO roles into the new DC, ensure that the new DC is also a DNS server and GC.
  3. Run DCdiag.exe and repadmin.exe on the new DC, make sure the new DC is heathy.
  4. On all domain members, point to the new DC as DNS server.
  5. Demote the former DC.

If you want to use the same IP address and computer name, please follow this blog below:

Which client OS versions do you use and what application servers are running, e.g Exchange Sharepoint etc.? There may be coexistence problems depending on the used versions.

Hi Yasser,

Migration process in every domain is the same, please migrate domains one by one and only proceed when the former migration succeeds.

Amy
