AD DS TOMBSTONE LIFETIME
Hi, As others mentioned, the backup is necessary. Since the domain is a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain and if you have enabled AD Recycle Bin, we could refer to the following article to perform the restore. Active Directory Recycle Bin Step-by-Step Guide http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd392261(v=ws.10).aspx Regards, Andy

Hello, just increasing the TSL will NOT give you the option for easier restore. You have the need for AD aware backup, at least system state to restore user accounts. Please read carefully http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216993 about system state backups that are OVER the TSL.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.
