You are trying to open ADU&C from the same server or from other machine?
Check this....
1) That DNS is configured as it should (DNS IP = Server IP address)
2) The Guess account is enable in the machine from where you are trying to access to ADU&C (Disable Guess account)
Give us more info !!!

Hello,
which OS version are you talking about, including SP/patch level? Is that the only DC in the domain?Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hi ,
Please provide the OS version as meinolf requested.
Other option would be install admin pack on one the client and remotely administer the ADUC and test if you are getting similar error ?
One other way is to turn off the guest account , but the article is for windows 2003
Second check for incorrect DNS entries
Third make sure AD is installed and was installed properly without errors.
Check if any of the ports are blocked ( LDAP )

Hi,
If you are using Windows Server 2003 SP1 then you have to update SP1 to SP2.
Use this link to download SP2 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=95AC1610-C232-4644-B828-C55EEC605D55&displaylang=en.
If you install this SP2, then you can able to open ADS as usual.
Verify these thinks,
01) Check DNS service is running or not
02) If it is Preferred DNS confirm Server IP address to be same on DNS IP Address. or else give 127.0.0.1 IP address in Preffered DNS in your NIC(Network Interface Card).
03) Restart netlogon service and workstation service also.
04) Check Active Directory installation Logs
