50% cpu service wmiprvse.exe

Hi,

Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller running on vmware.

I have noticed that the service wmiprvse.exe is taking about 50% of the CPU. I tried a Clean boot, but that did not solve the issue. I have installed the latest patches from windows update.

I have tried to follow these guides, but no success (I may have done something wrong), so please advice how to find out what are causing the process to be so high. This troubleshooting is a bit out of my knowledge.

Hi Oleaweel,

Have you installed any other 3rd softwares? I have seen similar issues caused by that.

If not, as the blog mentioned at the end, I suppose we'd better open a case with Microsoft.

Due to the complexity of the issue, it is better to contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services where more in-depth investigation can be done so that you would get a more satisfying explanation and solution to this issue.

Try to close the windows update client. The latest month WUA is bugged. Got a lot of VM that show that symptom. I'am waiting for the next cycle patch to get it fixed.
