3 little questions about server 2008 standaard.
hello,
1-my question is can I use 2 NICS in server 2008 standard one for publiek IP address and second for internal IP address. and how I have to configure those two NICS.do I need some external device or just configure two NICS on go work on it!
2-my second question is I have 4 publiek address from my ISP to use, when I try to use 2 of it and I run port scan software online to see wich ports are open for my server,he give message that your IP address is x.x.x.x wich is my WAN IP address.I don't see
realy the publiek address of my server ,because I want to see wich ports are open to my server IP address.is this normal situation that the IP scanner reports always WAN IP address,or I can change it to my server 2008 IP address, and how I can change it!
3-I want to instaal exchange 2010 on my 2008 server,in the MX records do I have to give my WAN IP address or my server 2008 publiek IP address?
thanks

Hi,
I will try to answer your questions to the best of my understanding of what you have in terms of hardware, and what you are trying to achieve.
1. Yes, you can use 2 NICS's on 2008 server. This server can run the Routing and Remote Access function, which makes it into a software router.
2. The only ports that are really of interest are those that are accessible publicly. That is why your port scanner scans your pubilc ip address.
3. It is not recommended to install Exchange Server on a server that is acting as a firewall/router in a DMZ. Of course, you must install the Edge Transport role on the DMZ server, but not the core Exchange roles.

You can use two NICs with RRAS enabled.
To configure RRAS: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd458979.aspx

For Ports scan, use PortQry v2.
3-I want to instaal exchange 2010 on my 2008 server,in the MX records do I have to give my WAN IP address or my server
2008 publiek IP address?
For Exchange, ask them here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/category/exchangeserver

Hello,
1. theoretical, yes. BUT practical this should NEVER be done on a domain controller for multiple reasons. If this for whatever reason has to be configured then follow Ace Fekay's description to prevent you from problems.

3. MX records should be configured in the ISPs DNS server to point to your Exchange 2010 public ip address and HOPEFULLY the Exchange server is NOT connected direct top the internet. Also Exchange should NOT be installed on a DC.
