32GB RAM and not booting
Hi Guys, I have a 2003 x64 Enterprise server cluster. Each node is currently running 10GB of RAM. The boot disk on each node is 32GB in size with 25GB free I tried to upgrade one of the nodes to 26GB of RAM. The Bios recognises it, I get a 2003 Server splash screen but thats all. What have I missed.

Hi POReilly, Are you able to start the server if you change the RAM back to 10GB? What kind of RAM did you add? Is it the same brand and model as the original one? I suggest using the same brand and model of the RAM as the original one in case of any compatibility problem. If you upgrade the RAM on one cluster node, please also upgrade it on the other node. For Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition and Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition, Microsoft supports only complete server cluster systems chosen from the Windows Catalog. Please check whether the RAM is compatible in Windows Catalog website below. http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/ It is recommended that your cluster configuration consist of identical storage hardware on all cluster nodes to simplify configuration and eliminate potential compatibility problems. Hi Karen, The RAM is identical to what is already in the unit, we are just adding more. Both nodes will be upgraded, I have simply started on one. Thanks

The problem was tracked down. The server had the option for full physical dump selected. As there was not enough disk space on the boot partition to accomodate the total capacity of the RAM the server could not both. Solution either reduce the RAM or free up disk space, or select Mini-Dump from the startup and recovery options.
