Hello, A very common cause to this kind of problem is that there is an OEM partition existing on the disk, and this partition is marked as Active. VSS needs the system partition to be marked Active so that it can retrieve information to complete the VSS snapshot process. If the system partition is not marked Active, the system state backup and the full backup will be broken. Please open the Disk Management snap-in to see which volume is marked Active. If this is the case, I am sorry to say that, for now, you may need to contact the computer manufacturers to see if there are any safe way to change the disk volumes. Please do not try to unmark and mark the system partition Active.
