2008 R2 VSS needs repaired, but how?
I have a problem with VSS on a 2008 R2 server. I am not able to create any snapshots due to this. Below is the error in event viewer: ERROR Source: VSS Event ID: 12292 Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error creating the Shadow Copy Provider COM class with CLSID {79079d5c-ef20-4952-b9fc-cfd443b38641} [0x80040154, Class not registered ]. Operation: Obtain a callable interface for this provider List interfaces for all providers supporting this context Get Shadow Copy Properties Context: Provider ID: {f782463b-33bb-4043-ad8d-60b728d26a6c} Class ID: {79079d5c-ef20-4952-b9fc-cfd443b38641} Snapshot Context: 4194304 Snapshot Context: 4194304 Execution Context: Coordinator I have read about registering everything but I have also read that you shouldn't do this for Vista+ operating systems, only the older ones. So if I have a problem with VSS how exactly do I fix it? Also I already looked into http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2009513. The registry key exist and the DLL file exist.
