2008 R2 FTP Server: Connectiion Timed Out
I have built out a 2008 R2 64-bit server on HyperV platform, and installed FTP services. From the local host I can connect fine, but am unable to connect to the FTP site from anywhere else. Now, if I disable the Public Profile in the 2008 Firewall settings, I can connect from other servers and workstations without issue. The Firewall settings are all default, and everything under FTP is set to allow for Domain, Private, and Public profiles, yet it just doesn't work with the Public Profile turned on. What am I missing?

Hi Matt,Have you configured the FTP authorization rules in IIS FTP console? You may also abled Firewall logging on your Public profile. When you reproduced the FTP logon, the logging file under (%systemroot%\system32\logfiles\firewall\pfirewall.log) should tell you which port is blocked by firewall. To enable the Windows Firewall logging, please follow the steps: 1.Open MMC console >> Windows Firewall and Advanced Security 2.Right Click Windows Firewall and Advanced Security and click Properties. 3.Enable the logging for dropped packets for Public Profile.Best Regards,Wilson JiaThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
