I ran an Array diag that HP looked at and said all firmware and drivers are up to date. They say no problem

As both servers are affected, you should ask HP on this. There were issues like this from time to time which the vendors (HP) fixes by firmware & driver updates for the (Smartarray) Controller. BUT, it is possible that you've got simply failing harddrives. (Maybe you run the servers in an "not supported" enviroment. Iirc the max enviroment temperature for HP Proliant servers is 30°C.
