2008-Boot From SAN-Pagefile?
Hello All:I have setup three Windows Server 2008Enterprise x64 boxes in a boot from SAN scenario. These will be running Exchange 2007 in a CCR deployment.I have setup each server toboot from SAN. I have created a 45gb LUN for boot and 45gb for LUN for the swap file. I understand that I will not be getting crash dumps with this scenario but wecan change the swap location in the eventuallity that we do need to do intenset-shooting.I was unable to find if the old axiom is still true in 2008:It is best to set the Initial Size and Maximum Size values the same, to avoid fragmentation of the pagefile as it grows. A minimum value of RAM * 1.5 is recommended. My question is do I follow the Windows 2000 guidlines for page file settings in the scenario described?I have read this article regarding Boot From SAN and Microsoft's recommendation on Bootfrom SAN scenarios. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305547/en-usThanks in advance,Michael BarbereHardware info: Device Information Blade Type Server Blade Manufacturer HP Product Name ProLiant BL460c G1 Part Number 447707-B21 System Board Spare Part Number 438249-001 Serial Number BIOS Server Name BIOS Asset Tag 13414 Server Host Name ROM Version I15 04/01/2008 Server NIC Information Port:NIC 1 00:21:5A:C8: Port:NIC 2 00:21:5A:C8: Port:iLO 00:21:5A:C8: Port:iSCSI 1 00:21:5A:C8: Port:iSCSI 2 00:21:5A:C8: Mezzanine Card Information Mezzanine Slot Mezzanine Device Mezzanine Device Port Device ID 1 QLogic QMH2462 4Gb FC HBA for HP c-Class BladeSystem 1 50:01:43:80:02:9f: 2 50:01:43:80:02:9f: CPU and Memory Information CPU1 Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 3000MHz CPU2 Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 3000MHz Memory 20480 MB

The rule of thumb for the pagefile is still true for32bit versions of Windows Server 2008.For 64bit versions of Windows, Microsoft has released the followingKnowledgeBase Article:889654 How to determine the appropriate page file size for 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 or Windows XPThe AppliesTo section clearly states Windows Server 2008, although the title does not.
