2003 Server (not R2) x32 domain, adding 2008 R2 DC to domain?
I need to add a 2008 R2 server to the domain as a second DC, there are multiple articles that explain how to download a 32 bit R2 update for 2003, since the 2008 R2 media doesn't come with a 32 bit version. Can anyone point me to any reasonable links on the detailed process to do this. I know where to download the 32 bit R2 update for 2003 - MS will provide them. I'm more interested in the step-by-step process. Thanks You can't trust your best friends, your five senses, only the little voice inside you that most civilians don't even hear -- Listen to that. Hi, Windows Server 2008 R2 includes a 32-bit and 64-bit version of Adprep.exe. The 64-bit version runs by default. If you want to run one of the Adprep.exe commands on a 32-bit computer, use the 32-bit version of Adprep.exe (Adprep32.exe). For the step by step process, please refer to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc733027(WS.10).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753437(WS.10).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754670(WS.10).aspx Hope it helps.

Hello, on the Windows server 2008 R2 disk you have 2 adprep versions, adpre32.exe and adprep.exe, the latter is the 64bit version. For updating check my blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/archive/2010/02/10/upgrading-an-active-directory-domain-from-windows-server-2003-to-windows-server-2008-or-windows-server-2008-r2.aspx Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
