2003 SE network issue
2003 Application server SP2 (IBM xseries346) 2 network cards installed with 1 disabled. 2x gigabit. One gigabit active. 7/16/2009 Configured server as application server. Set Share permissions on C:\"folder". Mapped drive from workstation to Q:\\"servername"\"share folder" in preparation for software install. Connected with no issues. Disabled AV/Firewall as per instructions for software install. Tested share with no issues as work station was able to connect to drive and read/change folder. 7/17/2009 Tried to connect with no success. Checked to see if server was seeing network. No satisfaction. Checked network cables, IP config, switch (non-managed), all proved to be good. Workstation could see network and access cloud but could not see server. Server cannot see past itself. Restarted server with no satisfaction. Bypassed switch with no results. No change to folder, share or config. It tells me that it appears that I am connected to the internet and to try to reconnect.

If you can't connect remotely you will have to log into the server directly and see what has happened to the network config.Bill

Hello, let's start with an unedited ipconfig /all to exclude DNS as a problem from the server and a client machine.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi Customer, Thank you for posting here. It seems that your servers shared folder suddenly disappeared on 7/17/2009. Please check if the AV/Firewall is turned on again. If so, turn it off and try again. Sometimes a server reboot will cause the AV software to be reactived. If the problem continues, please collect more information and answer the following questions for further research: 1. Ping by IP address and by name to isolate name resolution issues. 2. Can you access other share folders on the server? 3. Please open the "Share and Storage Management" snap-in in "Administrative Tools". Are these shares displayed properly? 4. Are there any specific requirements that the application needs for this shared folder? 5. If possible, please collect the MPSreport and ipconfig /all data of this server. How to collect an MPS report: 1. Download the proper MPS Report tool from the website below. Microsoft Product Support Reports http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=CEBF3C7C-7CA5-408F-88B7-F9C79B7306C0&displaylang=en 2. Double-click to run it. If the requirement is not met, please follow the wizard to download and install them. After that, click Next, when the "Select the diagnostics you want to run" page appears, select "General", Internet and Networking, Server Components click Next. 3. After collecting all log files, choose "Save the results". Choose a folder to save the <Computername>MPSReports.cab file. Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the file and then give us the download address. Wilson Jia - MSFT
