2003 SBS
I would like to appologize if the question is too trivial or that is reflecting lack of knowledge on my part - that is actualy reason that I am reaching for answers here. I have SBS 2003 and 2003 Standard, Exchage 2003 and Enterprise server 2003 options to use. I would like to set up my own server domain using my registered domain name with web site with public IP adress pointing to this domain, visible on the internet, internet accesible FTP server and own Email server accesible from outside, using the above software, and all going to -using the same domain name e.g. email@mydomain.com, www.mydomain.com etc. I have multiple public IP's availabe to me, T1 line etc. All I am administering right now is Enterprise 2003 server in Remote Desktop Clients environment with local and hardware VPN clients running applications, utilizing other company's public ISP services for above. Is there any "step by step cookbook manual or article approach to cut trought to the point get this done available to me as oppose to comprehensive process of learning all myself trough reading all related info from microsoft technical documentation and additional textbook/manuals info and trial error actual setup process? Hi Daniel, I don't think your question is too trivial, but maybe a bit complex for one thread. The one question you do ask is about any 'step by step' books, and I would venture, that, no, there will be no particular book or guide that will address your particular needs altogether. You mention various server products, all of which have benefits and drawbacks. The one that is right for you depends in the first place on how many users would be using the Active Directory domain? In my company I have currently 12 users, numbre fluctuates between 10-15, I have 25 connection licenses for termial services-remote desctop users and 25 domain user licenses. There is no and will not be any member conputers on my domain. I did not mentioned but setting up also internal web site and internal email exchange will be part of this.daniel valach

You could use SBS, but I must point out that SBS comes as a very specific package, and is not amenable to modification. It has many benefits, such as pre-configured Exchange and Sharepoint, as well as Remote Access. You cannot host a public website or ftp site on an SBS server. You will need a separate member server for this. Nor can you host Application mode Terminal Services on an SBS machine, once again you need a member server. So, if you only want one server, SBS may not be the correct choice after all. I hope this helps! If you found this post helpful, please give it a "Helpful" vote. Question is cook book info or link to HOW to set this up on abowe software without having to read umptieth amount of information e.g installl this, put your IP address here, put your domain here, open ports# block ports# etc. as I am the network builder and administrator, I plan to do this myself, just would like to cut to the chase without having to learn and read trough too much of lateral material to waste time. No local reliable IT to sidekick this with me. Structure of needs daniel valach
