2003 Domain - RRAS issues
I will try and give as much details as I can on this issue. We have a client who was running 3 servers. All the servers were 2003 Standard R2. Two of the servers are still live. #1 is running DC and exchange. #2 is running 2ndary DC, File Server and RRAS. The 3rd server was still around but was the old exchange server and RRAS. The issue comes in that I have 5 Windows 7 laptops that cannot connect through the RRAS using windows VPN. But have 5 laptops (3 Win 7 and 2 XP) that have no problems. I have compared all VPN settings on the laptops and all are matching. I get a 741 error and a 691 error on the Win 7 laptops. Also all machines are running Symantec SEP - I have tried on my own laptop (Win 7 and Trend AV) and cannot connect but another tech in my company can connect with his laptop, also Win 7 and Trend AV. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Hello, with multi-homing DCs you have chosen a bad option to run the domain. There are multiple issues that can occur and you may see now one of them. Please make sure the multi-homed DCs are configured as described in Ace Fekay's blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/acefekay/archive/2009/08/17/multihomed-dcs-with-dns-rras-and-or-pppoe-adapters.aspx And also see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/157025 Additional it is not recommended to run Exchange on DCs: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997407(EXCHG.80).aspx http://msmvps.com/blogs/acefekay/archive/2009/08/08/moving-from-exchange-2000-currently-on-a-windows-2000-domain-controller-to-a-new-exchange-2003-server-on-a-windows-2003-member-server.aspxBest regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
