Recovery could only locate logfiles starting at 19768. I'm not concerned with the mailboxes, but if they could be recovered as well, that would be great. Thanks.

Try this procedure (even it if isn't exactly your problem): http://www.petri.co.il/mount_exchange_database_when_e00log_is_missing.htm Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Good information from Ed, however if you end up needing to do an Eseutil /p just be sure to make a backup of your databases (EDB+STM) before you execute any of the commands so that if something goes wrong you can at least then rollback to the copied database files. NOTE: If you hit a complete wall and want to look at recovering the data from the offline databases into PST format or to recover them to a new live database check out Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.aspTroy Werelius www.Lucid8.com

" requires logfiles 19767-19768 in order to recover successfully. Recovery could only locate logfiles starting at 19768" Is telling you that the chk file thinks the anchor is 19767. In many cases, you can delete the e0n.chk file (the checkpoint) then start the db. This will replay all the logs in the log directory. Occasionally, you have half an attachment in the last log and you end up doing eseutil /r eon /i where e0n is you base. Of course all the caveats apply; take a backp, copy the db & logs, etc. J

Hi Anil, thanks for the questions and; 1. if we detect a db that is dirty/inconsistent DigiScope will first look to see if there are outstanding logs to roll-up (Note we do not depend upon the chk file and instead look at the database internals) 2. If the logs are not available we can do a repair to the database to bring it into a mountable state. BTW: the DEMO license will do all of this for you so that if you want to do a sanity check you can use DigiScope to roll-up or repair and then mount the db, so that you can then browse and search any of the mailboxes. If you want to export or recover data you would need a full license, but the DEMO license will do quite a bit to let you know the data is accessible. NOTE: There is a random sample export process in the DEMO license as well so that you can see that the data is truly exportable Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com

Hi Anil, thanks for the questions and; Basically we go through the following process when mounting a database; A: DigiScope (DS) checks the DB internals for state B: if DS detects a db that is dirty/inconsistent DigiScope will first look to see if there are outstanding logs to roll-up (Note we do not depend upon the chk file and instead look at the database internals) C: If the logs are not available/corrupt etc we can do a repair to the database to bring it into a mountable state. ( we do not use Eseutil to repair the database) D: Database is then clean, mountable and accessible so that you can Browse, Search, Export and Recover Mailboxes and Items BTW: the DEMO license will do all of this for you so that if you want to do a sanity check you can use DigiScope to roll-up or repair and then mount the db, so that you can then browse and search any of the mailboxes. NOTE: There is a random sample export process in the DEMO license as well so that you can see that the data is truly exportable NOTE 2: Our support department will also be happy to assist you with any question you may have before you buy the product and will even go so far as to open a WebEx with you to fast track your use of the product. Thanks Ed, I have recovered the stores and successfully mounted both the mailboxes and public folders. The procedure you pointed me too didn't actually resolve the problem, but that page pointed me to the technet article ID:313184 - I was able to do a eseutil /r and it found the files it needed and returned the edb's to a clean shutdown state. I was then able to remount the stores. Thanks to eveyone for their help. The problem has been resolved.
