xlsx file opens fine in 2007 but blank in 2010

We have an Excel xlsx file that opens fine in Office 2007 but when we open using Office 2010 x64 on Windows 7 Enterprise the worksheets are all blank.  All the sheets are there with their original names, but the cells contain no data.  I converted the extension to .zip and looked at the raw xml and the data is there.  If I save the file in 2010, then it saves it blank.  We then tried using 2007 to save the file in 97-2003 xls format.  That file opens fine in Excel 2010.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Hi,

See if repairing Office/Excel 2007 helps.

If not, you may try this program and register the Excel executable to the "Open With" listing.

Registering programs with the "Open With" dialog:

I had the same issue.  Repair/reinstall did not work.  I still believe this is a bug to fix but here's what I discovered to resolve.

In Excel 2010, go to the View tab.

Select the 'Arrange All' button, then choose to Cascade.

Once I pressed ok I was able to view the document completely and maximize, minimize, etc.  It didn't recur after that point.

Hope this helps.

Yes. Thanks. Worked for me too (open, it's blank go to VIEW\ARRANGE ALL and select cascade). Weird. It only happens on one particular file occaisionally.
