ive got windows server 2003 that is managing a domain and i have 3 computers that hav win xp pro and when there on the domain they cant sign into windows messenger does windows live messengerneed a proxyserver

no but you need to check your gpedit settings and you security settings as well to make sure its not blocked from the domain. it could be blocked in msconfig regedit iexplore services gpedit so you just have to check and make sure your server isnt too strict to prevent this.

where would i go to check if the security settings are to strict would i go 2 start run and command on the windows server computer ???

start with checking your group policy, you can do this by using the mmc and admin tools, does windows messanger work on the DC?

no msn doesnt work on the dc and what is mmc admin tools and wht do i change in the gp edit

start run gpedit.msc this will take you to the group policy editor
