why does client connect to certain mail server instead of the mailbox host
We have two DAG mailbox servers in two datacenters connected by a 10GB fiber.. We have a terminal server in that datacenter with outlook. When a user logs on to that outlook it opens a connection to a mail server in the office of the user instead of to the DAG.. I changed the Home MTA and HomeDB with ADSI edit still exchange is connected to the wrong server... How can I make sure the outlook clients use the datacenter mail servers..?

It would be accessing CAS server where DAG is residing, along with that you will see local site DC from you are connecting. Please check which client access server exchnage DB is using for MAPI connection. Get-MailboxDatabase <DB name> | fl RpcClientAccessserver. Anil

I changed the RpcClientAccessServer but still it connects to the wrong exchange server... PS C:\Windows\system32> Set-MailboxDatabase Amsterdam -RPCClientAccessServer "newmailserver.domain.LOCAL" PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-MailboxDatabase Amsterdam | fl RpcClientAccessServer RpcClientAccessServer : newmailserver.domain.LOCAL

Hi Where is the mailbox physically located for this user? Is that database active in the DC (say DC1). If user mailbox is at say DC1 and CAS server also at DC1 and user is logging into TS server at DC2, then they will be redirected to DC1. Is this your scenario? Sukh
