vpn outlook
I have 2 users that regulary work from home and have done so for a number of years They VPN into the server and use outlook 2003 for email etc All was working ok until recently, I have tried to reconnect outlook to exchange but for some reason I am unable to connect to it. I run a 2003 std server 192.168.16.2 and an exchange server with exchange 2003 std and server 2003 std 192.168.16.3 when i try and connect outlook to exchange, when on the add account screen i click the check name box after entering the server name and user mail box name i get the error message "The connection to MS exchange in unavailable outlook must be online or connected to complete this action" I have other user that travel with laptop and they can still connect ok Any suggestions

HEllo Leonard, I think best solution for you will be RPC over HTTPS, not VPN

Hi, Can you ping the exchange server by name from the workstation? Can you perform netbios name resolution (net view \\exchangeservername) ? Leif

hello, it's problem with client DNS settings. resolution: 1 - go to \WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc, open HOSTS and add record %IP address of exchange% %FQDN of exchange server(full name exchange.domain.com)% 2 - It will depend of your VPN server and how client recieve IP address etc.
