HI, Firstly you must check your existing hardware whether compatible or not with Exchange 2007.Exchange 2007 doesnt support 32-Bit hardware platform and require 64-Bit.You can use your all servers for exchange 2007 if its support 64-bit.Use your existing servers as below. Server1-Edge Transport or SMTP relayServer2-Client access and Hub transport serverServer3-Mailbox server1 (CCR) Server4-Mailbox server 2 (CCR) Please transition server as fallowing order 1) Prepare Active directory 1.1Prepare legacy permission on Active Directory:-- "Setup.com /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions" 1.2Prepare Schema "Setup.com /PrepareSchema" 1.3 Prepare AD "Setup.com /PrepareAD" 2) Install Clint access server-You should install client access servers first because Exchange 2003 front-end servers cannot manage Exchange 2007 mailbox servers. But Exchange 2007 CAS server will able to manage Exchange 2003 mailboxes. 3) Then you must install HUB transport servers because Exchange 2007 mailbox server cannot send/receive emails without HUB server. 4) Install mailbox servers and implement CCR on mailbox servers. 5) Install edge transport server or your third-partySMTP server and point to HUB server to send\receive emails. 6) Move mailboxes to Exchange 2007 MBX server from Exchange 2003 7) Transition Public folders 8) Decommission legacy exchange server Recourses======== Coexisting with Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange 2000 Server----------------------------------------------------------------------------http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998604.aspx Deploying a Standard Exchange Organization----------------------------------------------------http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201727.aspx High Availability Deployments-------------------------------------http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201729.aspxCluster Continuous Replication-------------------------------------http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124521.aspx Transitioning from Exchange 2000/2003 to Exchange Server 2007-----------------------------------------------------------------------------http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Transitioning-Exchange-2000-2003-Exchange-Server-2007-Part1.html A Practical Look at Migrating From Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007-------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/migration-deployment/practical-look-migrating-exchange-2003-exchange-2007-part1.htmlUpgrading to Exchange 2007---------------------------------http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124008.aspx Regards--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chinthaka

Hi Phani,What are the additional requirement like HA and DR. I totally agree with Chinthaka. If you need to avoid singe point of failure you may add one server as client access and hub transport server. It is also recommended to have addtional Edge transport server which load balances and also helps to avoid single point of failure.Regards,Krishnahttp://smtpport25.wordpress.com

Technically you can't upgrade Exchange 2003. You need to perform a migration to Exchange 2007.First thing You will need to do is make sure your environment meets the requirements for Exchange 2007 i.e Schema Master on W2K3 SP1 and all GC in the AD site are W2K3 SP1 (at least). Prepare AD etc. Once there deploy two Servers (I assume you want redundency) which each run the Hub Transport Role and the Client Access Role. Once these servers are deployed validate communication for SMTP and OWA, move security Certificates over for OWA/ActiveSync, etc. Once mail flow is going through deploy two additioanl servers for CCR. I would recommend W2K8 Enterprixe x64 servers. You can use the links Chinthaka recommended. Now you will want to test again, test owa connectivity to an 07 mailbox, test to an 03 mailbox. test smtp communciation between the exchange orgs. Now Route inbound and outbound mail through the new hub transport servers (since you tested them you should be able to route mail safely between the environments internal and external mail). Cut over your OWA url to the CAS servers (since tested it works you should have no problem).Migrate Mailboxes.Your memory sizing and hard drive sizing will vary based on the size of your orangization. There are a lot of good articles ou tthere on sizing an exchange org.enjoySF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS
