upgrade exchange 2003 enterprise to 2007 standard
We are currently using Exchange 2003 Enterprise but since the new limits on database size has increased, we would like to upgrade to the Standard version of Exchange 2007. Is this possible?Regards,Hoss Mo

No.Exchange 2003 requires an x86 (32-bit) operating system. Exchange 2007 requires an x64 operating system. You cannot upgrade Exchange 2003 to ANY version of Exchange 2007.The transition path is to install exchange 2007 and then move mailboxes to the new server. In this case, yes, you could build a new server with Exchange 2007 Standard Edition if you dont need more than 5 databases or clustering.Upgrading to Exchange 2007http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124008.aspx Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator

Thanks you for response. I am quite aware of the need to transition 2003 to a new server when we upgrade to 2007. However, I just need to confirm that there would be no problem in moving mailboxes from the Enterprise version of 2003 to the Standard version of 2007. Regards
