Any considerations I would think about before I upgrade from 2007 to 2010. I will upgrade only Word. My question is will the documents created with 2007 open correctly with 2010?

The documents created in the 2007 version should open correctly in the 2010 version.

You might have some difficulty in obtaining the 2010 version since the 2013 version is the one that's currently promoted.
