unable to send SMTP messages after installing Exchange 2007
Hello everyone,
I just did an clean install of windows X64 and installed Exchange 2007 with the default settings. I was able to connect to the exchange server with outlook 2007 but sadly when i send an email to an outside adress nothing happens. IS there a step i missed? I have tried setting a SMTP connector but that did not seem to help, and running the tool to test the connectivity did not show me very mcuh either.
It does work when i send messages to myself, and it also works when i send it to the postmaster account other then that it refuses to send to my private mail as a test. In Exchange 2003 it worked out of the box but with 2007 its a bit more problematic

Sending messages in Exchange 2007 should not be difficult, receiving is a little bit harder because you need to reconfigure the default receive connectors
You should check the queue viewer and look at the error that messages cannot be sent
Verify that you can telnet <remoteserver ip> 25 to mail servers on the internet to check if firewall does not block your server
Verify that you can use nslookup to find remote servers

The Error I am seeing on the message qeue is 400.4.4.7 : Message Delayed so it sounds like it cannot connect to the outside. I have checked NSlookup and it worked but the Telnet does work aswell i cannot connect to hte SMTP connection.

Then your firewall is blocking your Exchange server
