unable to fix content index failed

Exchange 2013 CU4

in one of my MB servers, i have three mailbox database where the content index is failed. i tried to recreate the index the usual way and it is still failed.

i then tried

Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus * | where {$_.ContentIndexState -eq "Failed"} | Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -CatalogOnly

but for all three databases i keep getting

WARNING: Seeding of content index catalog for database 'Mailbox01' failed. Please verify that the Microsoft
Search (Exchange) and the Host Controller service for Exchange services are running and try the operation again.
Error: There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://localhost:3863/Management/SeedingAgent-4AFFC464-A593-453C-BA1A-7F3F2E67374712/Single that could accept the message.
This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more
details..

everything that i could search for always suggests that first command.

is there any other way to fix this?

note: the Search and Host Controller service are both running. i've even restarted them.

Hello Mardo;

Here are the two suggestions to try, let me know if this helps

1. Set the correct Nic order.
Then restart the Microsoft Exchange Search and the Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller services
You content index will be healthy, Until context index is healthy you may get the error.

2. Create a new AD group named ContentSubmitters and grant Admistrators and NetworkService full access to it
Thereafter restart Microsoft Exchange Search & Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller services

hi,

i already have step 2, so i did step 1. crossing my fingers and waiting for index update.

August 25th, 2015 4:09am

after following step 1 and allowing time to create the index, it is still in failed state.

i can tell also that the search index folder is not yet created in one of the mailbox directory.

i checked the link provided and that too i already have the group "ContentSubmitters" with the appropriate rights given to it.

Hello;

To avoid this issue totally, you can delete the corrupted DB's on MB01 and take a copy from another health one, that will resolve your issue.
