unable to creat a new user mailbox in exchange 2003
Usually when I create a user in active directory it ask me automaticly to create a mailbox and everything get done automaticly. Now I can't create a mailbox when I create a new user in active directory. Active Directory asked all the info, the administrative group the mailbox name etc... the process seem to be successfull but nothing get created. If I do a search by mailbox in active directory I can find the mailbox. But if I try to find the mailbox using outlook it fail all the time. Can't find the mailbox name it says. User do not appear in the global access list either. The only moment where I can see the mailbox is when I'm doing a search for mailbox under active directory. If I open the user profile under active directory and I go under e-mail addresses... there is no smtp address created nor X 400.... If I add them manualy it still doesnt work. Please assist.

Until the X.400 and SMTP address have been stamped on the object, the account isn't mail enabled, which is why nothing else works. There is a lot more going on in the background, but the email addresses are the main sign of a successful (or not) mail enabling task. The usual cause is a problem with Recipient Update Services. Check it is pointing to a valid domain controller. If you haven't done so recently, run the EXBPA tool against the system and ensure it doesn't flag any issues. In other words, seems like you have issues with RUS or AD replication. Check the RUS and make sure that Domain RUS is pointing to Right Exchange Server and Domain ControllerGulab | Skype: gulab.mallah

Hi Tony, I also suspect there is something wrong with your Recipient Update Service (RUS), so please refer to the following articles to troubleshoot RUS. I did what all what is shown above but it looks like the RUS is not working, the RUS shows 2 services: Recipient Update Service (Enterprise Configuration) Recipient Update Service (domain name) what is the risk of rebuild the two services, is the can do anything to the current working mailboxesTony

If you Rebuild the RUS it will start stemping all the users from the begining and your production will be affected, those who users who are not stampped won't able to access there mailbox. You didn't answered my previous question! Recipient Update Service (domain RUS) is it pointing to right Exchange Server and Domain Controller? Cheers, Gulab | Skype: gulab.mallah

As Gulab has rightly mentioned, rebuilding will start stamping email addresses to all users and if you have more than 50 users, it can affect your production. However, you can try "update now" and see if that resolves your issue. Also, you mentioned that RUS is not working. Can you let us know what exactly is wrong with RUS?
