hi all i have a backup of 3 month old of a dc when i tried to restore it i have an error "an inconsistency was encountered in the ..." this error doesnot indicate any of a tombstone issue yet it seems like it beacuse i could restore it before my question: when tring to restore dc system state that is older from a tombstone life does it not allowing the restore? does it give an error? what kind of? and if this is the case. could i change the time on my dc, and then it count the time by rhe windows clock? thanks

Dont do a restore on a DC that is older than Tombstone time. You will end up with all sorts of problem. are you trying to do an authorotative restore? if not, its easier (almost) to rebuild your server and make it DC again given that you have another DC in the same domain up and running.

I do no recommend this. Whenrestoring from a server with a tombstone it will replicate to all of your other servers which will cause a loop of tombstones going around and you'll have all sorts of errors.
