surrogate backup
H We are using backup exec 2010 R3 to make Exchange 2010 SP1 backup. We have one dag configured with 4 databases, 2 mailbox server with two mailboxes. I don't have any difficulties to make the full backup but no Incremental backup is working, backup exec tell me that the agent for Microsoft for exchange hasn't been used for the last full backup. So I went to the management console --> Organization Configuration-->mailbox-->database management and right click on each database to see the time of the last full backup and the time of the last full backup was not the one done by Backup EXec; so I looked in the event viewer at the time of the last full backup accordingly to EMC and at this time I have this event Log Name: Application Source: ESE BACKUP Date: 7/20/2011 8:34:32 PM Event ID: 913 Task Category: General Level: Information Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: VMMAILBOU.master.ca Description: Information Store (3220) The surrogate backup procedure has been successfully completed by VMMAILBOU. Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="ESE BACKUP" /> <EventID Qualifiers="51200">913</EventID> <Level>4</Level> <Task>1</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2011-07-21T00:34:32.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>247233</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>VMMAILBOU.master.ca</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>Information Store</Data> <Data>3220</Data> <Data>VMMAILBOU</Data> </EventData> </Event> what is this type of backup? For sure this backup is causing the message that I have in Backup Exec I've called Symantec and they told me that the problem is related to Exchange.. thanks

Please manage a reboot of exchange 2010 DAG member server and test it. I had similar issue and got fix by reboot server and then take a full backup and sequential incrimental, which was shown on DB property.Anil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com
