Hi,

What is the size of the mailbox? 10 GB?

In some scenarios if the mailbox is too large, the performance will be affected, so it is suggested to keep some old emails to an archive .pst file.

In some other scenarios, Outlook crashes due to some 3rd-party add-ins, we can try this:

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.

Then Outlook will start in Safe Mode, no add-ins are loaded. Check if the problem persists, if no, please disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which one caused the issue.

If the problem continues, you may need to collect the event logs for analysis:

Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.

Browse to Windows Logs -> Application to see if there are any Entries about Outlook. You can also send the logs to us to help analyze:

Dear Melon,

thank you.

1. there are only outlook application hangs in eventvwr, I dont know if they are in connection with our problem
2. we have no 3rd party addons in outlook, eset nod antivirus is deactivated
3. Due to Outlook 2003 we cant change to "cache mode" - do you think thats an advantage of outlook 2010/2013 in this case?
4. Do you think we can have a Dual-Outlook (2003 - 2010)  Installation on the Terminalserver? (e.g. for testing in the beginning only with one User?  They are using the mapi interface in connection with ERP Software
5. While trying to auto-archive or manually move Mails in PST File  - the process is canceling randomly with the message  "cannot move elements. they were moved or deleted or access is denied"

At the moment my best Ideas:

1. sell/integrate a third party server mail archiving software like "mailstore"

2. try outlook 2010 or 2013 as second mail client on the terminalserver

best regards

Hi,

"1. there are only outlook application hangs in eventvwr, I dont know if they are in connection with our problem"

- They should be related to the problem.

"3. Due to Outlook 2003 we cant change to "cache mode" - do you think thats an advantage of outlook 2010/2013 in this case?"

Actually Outlook 2003 is out of support now. "Microsoft ended support for Office 2003 on April 8, 2014. This change has affected your software updates and security options." So basically a newer version of Outlook/Office is preferred. But if you don't have the plan to upgrade, I will provide some suggestions as far as I can.

"4. Do you think we can have a Dual-Outlook (2003 - 2010)  Installation on the Terminalserver? (e.g. for testing in the beginning only with one User?  They are using the mapi interface in connection with ERP Software"

Yes you can install Outlook 2010 if you already have Outlook 2003 installed, make sure they have the same architecture(32bit).

For this you can try to create a new Outlook Profile to configure the user's account, check if the problem persists. The issue may be caused by a corrupted profile or a damaged data file, so creating a new profile is worth a try, especially only one user is affected.

Hello,

thank you very much for your support.

We decided to work locally instead of working on terminalserver.

My Collegue had the Idea that the 90 GB Exchange Database is corrupted but offline check via ESEUTIL is not easy to do because it takes mch time etc.

Best Regards
