smtp account
Hello, an Exchange user has 2 e-mails associated with his Exchange mailbox. He needs to be able to send from the other e-mail address which is not the default e-mail address and he does not want to create another mailbox for the other e-mail. A pop3 account has been created on his Outlook and configured only the smtp address of the Exchange server to send e-mails only as all incoming will go in the Exchange mailbox. The problem I am having is that e-mails sent to the default e-mail are delivered and received fine however when trying hotmail gmail etc they are sent however nothing is received what might cause such issue pls ? Hi, If you wants to accept e-mail from another SMTP domain name, you should do the following: Create authoritiatve accepted domains for the next SMTP domain like domain2.com. Create an e-mail address policy for that SMTP domain like user@domain2.com and configure the policy filter settings so that the appropriate address is applied to recipient. Make sure that there is an MX record for the new accepted domain that resolves to your Internet-facing IP. If you have an Edge Transport server and you are using EdgeSync, no further configuration is required. If you have an Edge Transport server and you are not using EdgeSync, make sure that the accepted domain is configured on both Edge and Hub, and make sure there is a Send connector from Edge to Hub. If you're not using Edge, you shouldn't need to configure any Send connectorRegards from www.windowsadmin.info

the user is internal to the domain and he just wants to send some e-mails by using a different e-mail address which is already setup as an additional smtp but within the same domain name.

Hi On a mailbox you can only have 1 primary address, the one that "sends" mail, then you can almost have as many you want additional addresses, these are used for receiving emails. If the user is using Outlook for sending this email the primary address needs to be changed. Using a script would work but i don't see why this is so important? Or else delete the "other" mailaddress he wants to send from and create a another mailbox with this address and give him rights to this one and send from it in that way? Would that work for him? Like a resource mailbox..Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog
