size and number of items within a date range
Greetings, I'm Running Exchange 2003 and am about to implement an archiving solution for around 500 mailboxes. What I'd like to know is the number and size of all items older than 6 months in each mailboxso I can have some idea of the amount of storage I require for my solution. What I'm looking to do is write a script that will eventually tell me this either using mapi or cdo or wmi. The quick bit of research I've done shows it's fairly easy to gather information on mailbox sizes and item counts, but there doesn't seem to be any provision for a date range. Does anyone here have any suggestions? Regards, p

Based on my understanding about the post, you may want to know the size and numbers of all folder itemsfor each mailbox so that you can caculate the mount of storage required for your Archive solution. According to my local test, we can only check mailbox level for total message size and numbersin Exchange Server, but it seems not possible to check the folder level total items and size. If you want to check a folder level total items, you can check below stepson the Outlook Client. Step:check total message numbers of afolderin the Outlook ============================================== 1. Right click the folder you want to check total numbers. 2. Choose Properties. 3. In the General tab, check the box show total number of items. 4. Then, you will able to see the total number of the folder after the folder name. Meanwhile, I also would like to share the download link of ADM file for auto-archive via Group Policy. Office 2003 Service Pack 3 Administrative Template (ADM), OPAs, and Explain Text Update I hope it helps. Regards, Jason

Hello, I noted that your scenario is Exchange 2003, not Exchange 2007. It seems that Exchange 2007 can get it with the below ESH cmdlet. Get-MailboxFolderStatistics I just want to let you know about it. Regards, Jason
