Hi,
Before you install exchange 2007 in a child domain, you must first ensure that you Active directory schema and your domain are
prepared for the new installation of Exchange 2007.
Then, you proceed to install exchange 2007.
However, if you have any other suggestion or I misunderstood your problem then any others explanations are welcome !!

Where does the child domain come in to this? It isn't exactly clear what you have done. There is no mention of child domain in your question - just in your subject.
If you want to test the Exchange 2007 installation procedure then you need to clone the complete environment. That will mean at least the root domain (as root has to be prepared before any child domains) as well as the child domain where you want to install
Exchange. You can't just split part of it away.

Instead of putting a lot of time and effort in getting this working i figured it might be able to install exchange in 1 child domain only without haveing to update the schema of every directory partition.
