We are running server 2003 with exchange 2003 I have 3 offices we are receiving email via pop from our isp for office 1 office 2 and 3 collect direct into outlook bypassing the server at the moment when office 1 sends email to office 2 or 3 i get the following error The following recipient(s) could not be reached: office 2@mydomail.co.uk on 07/02/2008 22:23 There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <SERVER002.mydomain.co.uk #5.5.0 smtp;550-Verification failed for <office 1@mydomail.local>> I understand why I am getting the error as that email address is not setup on my server, but I have no idea how to get round this I can send email out ok to other addresses any advice

If you know the address does not exist, why send to it then?

Hi Leonard, I guess, you need to turn on"SMTP Authentication" office1 OR turn off "SMTP Authentication" on office2 server OR dont perform DNS lookup on incoming mesgs on office2 or decribe more your Exchnage organization settings

I don't get the point of your suggestion, as he clearly states this address does NOT exist, so whatever you propose here will not make it exist all of the sudden, will it?

May be i didnt explain my problem correctly my server collects email from my ISP via pop we have 3 offices all have email addresses @mydomain.com offive 1 is the only offive that uses exchange all the other offices collect the email direct from the ISP and do not connect to the server. But I still need to be able to send emails to office 2 and 3 when i send email to office 2 and 3 it does not leave the server (as far as the server is concerned this user is not setup) but the email address is set up at the ISP so it does exist but not on my server have i made it more clear now?

Ah, that makes sense. You can add an entry to the Default SMTP Virtual Server - Messages tab - and fill in the 'Forward all mail with unresolved recipients to host' and enter your ISP host or relay.
