I'm having the same problems with outlook not responding.  I've tried to repair my pst file but it scans, tries to backup and then says there an error and the file may need to be modified? Help!

It appears like you pst got corrupted, where scan pst file cannot repair or remove the corruption.

What is the status, if you try to option the outlook in safe mode (outlook /safe). if the outlook still hangs?

If you are able to view the emails in safe mode, create a new personal folder and move the emails from the old pst file to new.

Still if no luck, try to add that pst to other machine outlook and move those emails to new pst file.

Inform if any issue.
