running exchange spk2 on mail/hub server and not running it on the client server.
following the ms exchange 2007 model, we have a client mail server serving up owa, sending mailbox requests to the mail server, then authenticating uses on the dmz isa server. then we have the mail server running the hub relay processes and the mailboxes, forwarding the smtp requests to the edge mail server in the dmz we had found that if we did upgrades in roll-ups and service packs to the exchange mail and client servers, the owa broke, so we left al the servers on the spk1 rollup 1. We knew of a page file and memory issue in the mail server, and i am wondering if i should upgrade the mail server to spk2m leaving the rest on their current service and roll-up. so does anyone see an issue running exchange spk2 on mail/hub server and not running it on the client server. with only one server in the exchange group of servers running spk2 does this kill other things?

Hello, It is always recommended that all the roles have same service pack. As your Exchange Environment, Install the SP2 on all the Roles & also on Edge server. After that you have to re subscribe the HUB & Edge server. It will fix the problem. MicroSoft Exchange Admin. & Connector EXCHANGE2010, MCSE, MCTS, MCSA MESSAGING, CCNA & GNIIT

Hi, Agree with PKT, it is best practice to have all of your exchange servers running the same service pack level. Also recommend you upgrade your servers that are running the Mailbox server role after you upgrade your servers that are running the Client Access, Unified Messaging, Hub Transport, or Edge Transport server roles. Detail information please download the "Release Notes for Exchange Server 2007 SP2".
