restoring Exchange 2007 per mailbox by copy and paste
Hi,I'm backing up my Exchange 2007 database by using DPM and restoring it thru a certain folder location. Is it possibleto useRecovery Storage Groupand "merge a mailbox" by just copying the transaction logs and database in RSG folder? I tried creating RSG then copy the database inside RSG folder and overwrite RSG created database but didn't worked. Is there any other way to recover a certain mailbox using copy-paste trans log and database which will do if we're recovering the whole storage group?Pls. help.Thanks.

for a producton database will work :stopping the information storedeleting the database files and E00.chkthen restart the Information store service when you have ALL the logs (from the beginning) in the folder.I don't know if it works also for RSG...dn't forget that restarting the service it will be "starting" for some time, needed to rebuild the databse, that depends from the size of the logs (i don't think the production database will be accessible in the meanwhile). It took 30-45 min to me to rebuild a prod. DB of15 GB. (thanks to Amit Tank for the magic answer).ANYWAY:The correct method should be to restore directly in the RSG. When you enable a RSG the restore target is modified to that DB.HTH Diego Castelli

Hi, I suggest you refer to following article regarding recovery database to RSG in Exchange 2007: How to Recover a Mailbox by Using a Recovery Storage Grouphttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997694.aspx I would like to explain if you only have database file and transaction logs, you could copy them to a folder and use eseutil /r enn /d "database path" command to write the logs to database. Then, copy the database file to RSG database path and mount the database to recovery. Note: You could run Eseutil /mh to check whether the database is clean shut down and whether the require log exists.
