restore messages problem in exchange 2003 server
Hi, I tried to restore messages to same or another user. There's an error message in the restore log file: CreateFolder failed 80004005 MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED From backup software vendor support info, we need to modify registry in Exchange 2003 server: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830829/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830836/en-us I've no idea how to set the appropriate values. Can anyone recommend a suitable value? Any formula can be used? Backup software: Alvamar, with Windows & Exchange clients installed Users mailbox status: over 400 mailboxes, each of them have more than 20 self-created mail folders and each folder has more than 20 messages. Thanks.

I didn't check Exchange server's event log yet. If either of thresold was reached, what's the practice to increase the value, e.g. increase by 100, and then test the restore again?

Whatever you do, just remember that the changes you make apply to ALL connections and mailboxes. If you're running only 400 mailboxes it probably won't casue you major problems no matter what you do -- but the same can't be said for a server with 4000 mailboxes. How much you need to increase any value depends on what threshold is exceeded. If it's the number of concurrently opened messages, the OEM should be able to help you by telling you how they hamdle the messages -- and I'm assuming you're restoring messages from a brick-level backup and not from a Recovery Storage Group. The same goes for the number of open folders. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
