renaming CAS/Hub Transport Servers
hello all-i've got a CAS and an HT server that were built and installed with incorrect host names. i need to rename them, and the safe courses of action I thought would be to deploy 2 new VM's in parallel with proper naming convention, and install the roles accordingly, or to remove Exchange from existing systems, rename, and them reinstall.but i'm wondering if a simple rename would do it?? there on VM's so i could snap them before handhas anyone tried this??tia!

Hi, It is not recommended to rename the server on which Exchange Server roles installed. If you dont have any other Hub & CAS servers in the same AD site then install a temporary physical/virtual server with Exchange roles, uninstall Exchange Server from original servers, rename those servers, install Exchange back on them and uninstall temporary server.

in another case, maybe it's enough, when you create a DNS CNAME for the right name. mostly that will be enough if you aren't in some naming-standards to do this via dns.
