rename computer after AD installed

I wouldn't even consider installing Exchange on to a renamed machine. If you have run DCPROMO on it and do not want it to be a domain controller, then run DCPROMO again, remove it and then drop it out of the domain and rebuild it. If you have simply added it to the domain, then drop it in to a workgroup, wipe and rebuild. I have simply seen too many issues, particularly with IIS with renamed machines. Dear: i will install Exchange 2010 on windows 2008 and domain controler in the same server my question is by mistake i start dcpromo and install AD befor but correct computer name what the solutions???

Yes you can change the computer name my following the below steps: 1. netdom computername CurrentComputerName /add: NewComputerName 2. netdom computername CurrentComputerName /makeprimary: NewComputerName 3.Reboot Computer 4. netdom computername NewComputerName /remove: OldComputerName Note: This change can be done only if the Domain Functional Level is Windows server 2003 or Higher.Best Regards, Kranthi-EX
