pst migrations into Exchange 2003 - folders empty

I have done a bunch of very tedious pst migrations today; I was in Exchange 2003 using exmerge.

I merged .psts to mailboxes as these are users coming in from another department and external to our forest.

i named the .psts i was given with their alias names as otherwise it wouldn't import. Exmerge showed it successfully importing to the users new mailboxes. I had many .psts just for the one user, so created folders and had the various alias .psts nested in there. Exmerge showed it successfully copying into the mailboxes.

anyway i have had a user contact me at the end of the day saying she has all the folders she used to have thanks to her .psts being imported, but her folders were showing empty instead of housing all the mail.

I remoted into her PC and did a network share to where the .psts are; then opened them through Outlook. They opened as multiple inboxes showing her various emails within the folders.

She has permission to her mailbox. Nothing has changed there. What am I missing? I have gone through the Exmerge log on the server and can see the .pst imports successful for the users, but some are reporting 0 messages copied across whilst the folders have; or some mail has copied as well as the folders. The users have had huge mailboxes (such as 22GB) which is why I have had multiple .psts even for the one user.

Can someone help me out with where I may be going wrong?

I checked View - All Messages on the user's PC. In Exmerge I chose Merge in the settings, not Replace, so it hasn't wiped her mail.

any help is appreciated as this is tiresome. thanks.

Hi

If you open the PST files that you split can you see any mail in them?
