prevent personal mailbox sending internet email but allow sending outtbound email on behalf of generic mailbox
Hi, there: Our Environment: Exchange 2010 Server. The client has a request, they want some users(20 users) not able to send internet email from their personal mailbox, but these user can send internet email on behalf of some generic mailbox. Is this achievable in Exchange 2010? and how?

Hi, You can do it via Transport Rules. Also for Generic mailbox you can create one generic mailbox and give all 20 users permission to access and send on behalf of that mailbox. Thanks, Swapnil Prajapati

Hi, Swapnil: Do you mean this user can still send internet email on behalf the generic mailbox even his(her) private mailbox has been applied with the above rule?

Hi, When you say from generic mailbox to internet, then the source email address will be your generic mail address. The user has got sendas rights for the generic mailbox. For example, if user user1@abc.com has SendAs rights on genericmailbox@abc.com then he can send to internet as genericmailbox@abc.com if he sends as user1@abc.com as per transport rule it will be denied. you can restrict them via transport rule to not send to any particular domain. Thanks, Swapnil Prajapati
