pop3 ip addresses restriction in exchange 2007
Is it possible in Exchange 2007 to define, which workstations can use pop3 on server, using ip addresses lists as it was in excange 2003? I mean Default POP3 Virtual server properties->access->connection->only the list below.

Hi, Yes, you can do it by going to client recieve conector properties (if you are using this connector for POP clients) --> Network Tab --> Receive mail from remote servers which have these IP addresses -->add the IP list. Regards, Vineet "Please mark this post helpful, if it really did"

Sorry. I did not get. What receive connector are you talking about? I see only SMTP Receive connectors on hub servers. But POP3 is on CAS server, whitch has no connectors. Can you explain this more detail please?

Hi, I am afraid that we are not able to restrict WorkStation to access POP3 by using IP Address. Nevertheless, I would like to explain that we can restrict POP3 access based on user: 1. Open EMC 2. Recipient Configuration->Mailbox 3. Double click the user mailbox you would like to disable POP3 feature, under the Mailbox Features, please disable the POP3 feature. I think that the method is more available to disable POP3 instead of using IP address restriction. Nevertheless, if you need to have specific destination, please explain the reason. We can work together to check whether we are able to find a workaround. Mike

Hello Mike. Thanks for responce. The problem is that POP3 access is enabled on all mailboxes by default. But I need to enable it on only one workstation (this is for bank client software). If I enable POP3 on a CAS servers - all users will be able to access POP3. So I should check every mailbox and disable it. And after that when my account operators creates new mailboxes I should disable POP3 on every new mailbox again. This is horroble.

Hi, Base on further research, I would like to explain that we disable all users on the mailbox server to use POP3 by using following cmd: Get-Mailbox -Server <server name>|Set-CASMailbox -POPEnabledfalse Then, enable POP3 for the specific user. Regarding how to disable POP3 enabled when creating new user, I am afraid that there is no method. Mike

Itcan be scheduled with a PowerShell script to run every midnight and to automating the things, which will disable the POP3 for all users which are created in last 24 hours. Script.ps1 Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.Admin Get-User -ResultSize Unlimited | where {($_.WhenCreated -gt (get-date).adddays(-1))} | Set-CASMailbox -POPEnabled $false Regarding to, how to schedule a script point 3 in below article can be checked. Exchange 2007 & Display NameFormat Note: This article is for another issue but method of scheduling above script can be referred from it. Hope this helps...
